Local SEO: five settings that change everything in Belgium

Before thinking about keywords, five technical settings decide whether you show up in local searches.

For a Belgian SME, local search is the most profitable acquisition channel. Someone searching “coiffeur Charleroi” or “kiné Waterloo” is ready to book. These are the five settings that make the difference, in order.

1. The Google Business Profile. It appears in Google's local block, often before the websites themselves. Exact primary category, real opening hours, recent photos, an address that matches the website: every inconsistency dilutes Google's trust.

2. Identical name, address and phone (NAP) everywhere. A mobile number on the Google profile and a landline on the site, a former postal code in a directory: these details alone can halve your visibility. Align everything, once and for all.

3. Pages per service and per city. A single “our services” page struggles to rank. One page per service, with the area served, local wording and a contact request, ranks ten times better.

4. Structured data. LocalBusiness markup explicitly tells Google who you are, where you are and what you do. It is technical, invisible to visitors, and it weighs heavily on local search.

5. Reviews. A steady flow of genuine reviews lifts the profile and reassures visitors. The simple rule: ask after every happy customer, reply to every review, positive or negative. Nothing else replaces it.

These five settings require no ad budget and are measurable within a few weeks of traffic and calls. For many of our clients they deliver more than any campaign.
